Ruy began playing tennis at age 13, under the influence of his older brother. At 17 he began lessons with teachers and began participating in tournaments all over the country. Tennis is one of several activities that Ruy practice to assist their development. "People with autism should take life as normally as possible, the more it is included in the society better," explains psychologist Vera Lucia Gomes de Campos, Ruy that came 15 years ago.
The mother of Ruy, Maiolino Izilina Chaves, always insisted that his son would lead a normal life. "There are many mothers who hide their children at home. I never did that, "he says.
